We gave "A Memory of God" the Cold War treatment, but lyrically it probably has more in common with old spirituals, about finding our way back home.
A MEMORY OF GOD
The sky was painted like a desert
With clouds that faded into land
With tinted eyes the sun reflected
We take the daylight while we can
A beacon brought me to the weather
I wallowed in the angry flood
Guide me to the epicenter
Where canyons break the light above
Always say the days are passing
Always played that cycle down
Ascend with every crest to heaven
And turn the weary world around
And there's a fleeting chance you might see
A fleeting chance you might see coming
And so we rise to revelations
And see our fate cut through the fog
I held a torch in search of spirit
I dreamed a memory of God
I dreamed a memory of God
